Artists Statement

​

Jude established Heart and Soul Ceramics in 2022 after leaving a career in teaching, and now works full time from her home studio in the heart of the Ashdown Forest.

 

Inspired by the flora and fauna surrounding her, Jude makes wheel thrown, functional stoneware and hand built porcelain sculptures, with the hope of capturing her whimsical imagination within the ceramics she creates.

 

For Jude it is all about the detail, with her functional ceramics intricately carved and decorated using a variety of free hand techniques and a combination of oxides and glazes in enhance the clay.

 

The porcelain hand builds display the same level of detail often emulating the movement of fabric in a solid form.

 

Clay is her passion, an everyday joy.
