Inspiration  for my work stems from two childhood memories : my father arriving home  carrying a battered leather suitcase filled to the brim with model  planes and ships; Images of travel to far-flung places, namely my  birthplace of Australia, where my parents emigrated on the £10 boat  passage during the 1960's.

Returning  to London , a love of model-making was instilled in me by my  grandfather, an engineer working on the Routemaster buses; who taught me  to make toys from scrap materials as was common for the post-war  generation.
