Laura Nicholson
Jewellery
I am a jewelry designer based in Crowborough. Working mainly with aluminum, creating pieces influenced by mid-century design and modern sculpture. Using traditional techniques like hammering and milling I shape and texture aluminum sheets into wearable form, incorporating materials such as recycled drinks cans, coloured perspex, wood and brass to craft unique earrings that are finished with sterling silver hooks.
Recently I have been exploring chokers and larger necklaces, a process I find deeply satisfying from sourcing beads - often reclaimed from vintage jewellery - to carefully stringing and finishing each piece with hand cut charms or larger and bolder pendants.
