Audrey Beer

Fine Art Painter

Audrey Beer is an artist living in Seaford in East Sussex.

Audrey was born in Esher in Surrey in 1930 and went on to study at the Slade School of Art and Central School of Art. Here is a picture of her painting at the Slade in the 1950’s, (taken from a BBC documentary film about Paula Rego).  Other contemporaries and friends of hers were well-known artists, Phillip Sutton, Ian Auld and Cragie Aitchinson.

Audrey has painted her whole life and worked on many art projects from calligraphy, to map colouring work, botanical watercolours, and fine floral painting on harpischords. She inspired all of her 5 children to all be creative and artistic, several went on to have full time careers in the arts.

Now in her mid 90’s, Audrey still draws flowers from home, bringing joy to all around her. Some of her skills are still intact and her family are so proud of her.
